Our little adventure; Helmet Diving

Picture borrowed from the internet
It was a rainy afternoon at a place located somewhere in the middle of the Philippines' geography when my siblings and I decided to do something "Fun" to enjoy our vacation. We went to the beach and enjoyed the clean sea water, white sand and the sight of "eye candies" everywhere.

We dived, swam and played-around in the water for a period of time but still couldn't get enough. We wanted to do something memorable since it was our last day on that island.

We jumped off the water and headed towards the array of restaurants to buy ourselves something to fill our empty stomach (Physical activity gets me hungry-quick!). While walking, a man approached us and showed us packages of fun activities(Perfect!).

He offered us the Banana boat ride, Buggy car adventure, Island hopping etc. and one of it was the Underwater Helmet diving. We opted for the latter because, its sounded hassle-free and exciting!

The thought of feeding colorful fishes under the water, and being able to breathe normally with the help of a helmet is what convinced us to try it over the other packages presented. For the four of us, He offered the 10 minute dive with 40 pieces of pictures, and a 5 min. video for only P1,800. Great deal eh?!.yes! -we closed the deal with a 50% down-payment, and agreed to do the activity after lunch.

So we proceeded to the restaurant and bought us pizza for lunch!(yum!) After having our tummies filled, we wasted no time and hastily went to our rendezvous. There, we waited for the pump boat that would send us to that floating little bamboo shade in the middle of the water where we will do the "dive".

Signing of waiver and orientation before the dive
Upon getting there, we were asked to sign the waiver and was given instructions about what to do underwater. We sat and waited for our turn for about around 15mins.

CLIMATE CHANGE; Cause and Effect

In the past, the awareness of global warming and its effect called the “climate change” was not widely strewn over the world. The aim to inform people regarding its adverse effects to the world was deficient if not, given only minimal attention despite life threatening forecasted consequences.

What is Global warming?

-It is the rise of the Earth’s temperature due to continuous emission of Carbon dioxide from the factories, Fuel combustions from vehicles, and other chemicals that pollute the air. Voluminous amount of carbon dioxide (co2) in the atmosphere can cause thinning toour primary screen to the sun’s rays and heatthe “Ozone layer”. In the event when a hole is born in the ozone, more heat will penetrate the earth, and with an atmosphere crammed with pollutants like co2, The heat remains inside. In this circumstance, climate change takes place…Natural calamities such as earthquakes, hurricanes, and typhoons emanate frequently with more power and can cause titanic devastation.

EFFECTS

-A magnitude 9.0 Earthquake hit the country of japan in March 11, 2010. With this intensity, it triggered a rise in the ocean water to the shore up(Tsunami) to 133ft high or 40.5m and traveled 10km. inland that resulted to 19,000 casualties, washed out cities and Billions worth of damages as per wikipedia.org.

-In December 16, 2011, an unfortunate event transpired in the cities of Cagayan de oro and Iligan in the Philippines. A severe tropical storm named "Sendong" caused a flash-flood of 20’ in height ravaged through and sunk the badly hit areas of Tibasak, Balulang, & Cala-Cala leaving only about 2% of the houses in the communities.Claiming thousands of lives and caused Billions of damages throughout the cities affected.

People all over the world dropped their jaws as they witnessed the destructions left by the earthquake and the typhoon “sendong” over the television. The sight of survivors weeping for their lost loved ones, indescribable faces of the victims who were terribly feeling various emotions of fear, anxiety and hopelessness mushroomed over the media and the internet. Questions lavished through the minds of the citizens asking what happened, what caused and who is responsible for the untoward incident? Some Government officials pointed fingers to their rivals for the blame and Hopeless people blaming/questioning God for their misery was prevalent at the height of the tension. Subsequently, few questions surfaced to my mind, was their really a single person to be held responsible for the misfortune? Is it right to blame God? What caused the mishaps?

Then I recollected what I learned and was warned about when I was younger…CLIMATE CHANGE. The Answer to the questions is actually not to find for; it was present and already given even prior to the catastrophes. Climate change is already here! We are all living it now! It has already shown us the weight of a pigment of its power and people will continuously experience the same or worse, if we do not work to aid the Earth. However, still we have a chance to avert the effects of this phenomenon.

What can we do?

It is virtually impossible for us to clean the earth instantaneously. In few years nevertheless, if we work to discipline ourselves to keep the nature clean we will somehow mar the amplification of pollution and climate change respectively. DISCIPLINE, a plain and simple word thatcarry the antidote to the poisoned world we live in. Apathy in the past caused the effects we suffer today, Let us all open our eyes, get involved and move to heal the earth.Make it a better place for us and for our future residents…Our Children. We cannot blame anybody for the mishaps because we are all accountable for the tragic incidents. For no one, eventhe most powerful cannot mend the earth single handedly.

We need to act on this together! It is about time we revert what we consumed and sow new seeds for tomorrow. Let us not wait for another “Sendong” or a more forceful earthquake or a hurricane to happen again!

It is never too late but let us have no second to waste…

Something about me

Hi! Here is the hardest part for me, the Introduction! haha I don't know why, but I really find it hard to start when it comes to me being asked to introduce or describe myself!! aaaarrgggh! oh well! wew! anyway, I'll try my best this time! Ok, here goes....

As far as I know, I am very kind person, considerate of people's attitude and behavior, broad minded and loquacious. all positive yeah? well all I can say is "Live with it! this is my site". hahaha! just kidding.

well I asked my friends to describe me and that's how they described me as so I might as well believe them right? as they say, "you are not the best person to describe yourself but the people around you" and I know that is true! although, individually we know what our true intentions are towards "anything", our behavior is not something like we are conscious of! I mean, of course we are conscious of the things that we do at the moment but others can see more than what we can and that's a fact!

Moreover, I love music! a day will NEVER be complete with out me singing aloud! hahaha! my parents would often yell at me so I will just shut up but I will just laugh at them and continue singing! hahaha yes that's true! I am a frustrated singer I should say... :D

Aside from that, I also love to "analyze" people's behavior. that maybe is the reason why I don't have a lot of friends because I choose them carefully. I'm the type who doesn't get convinced easily by/with words, I don't like it,(NO! I HATE IT!). when someone tries to convince me, Its disgusts me! especially if your selling things to me or you try to make me believe of who you say you are when it's exactly the opposite of what I see in you! eeeeh! hahaha.

The reason why I don't like that attitude is because, I see no point at all! cos' here, if you're selling me something that I don't like, you will just waste all your effort and end up having your throat dry and your esophagus swollen only to receive a "NO THANKS" from me. that's sad right? and It puts me into a very awkward situation which I don't like. same with a person who tries to be someone else he's not! this one is more disgusting! don't protrude an Image that you want people to see, show your self and accept the fact that you may not be acceptable to everybody. who cares? who's perfect anyway!? you know what I mean? yes! I know that you will agree with me. hahaha!

I guess, you now somehow, know a teeny weeny bit of something about me. You will know me better as I progress with this blog. I will share about my experiences, my opinion toward things, attitude and basically all about everything that my brain neurons tell me to talk about. from the lifestyle of ants! haha(exagg) to the universal phenomena. Lol! I also look forward to having more friends through this blog.

Thank you very much for reading my not-so-senseful introduction!

Regards,
Jackie Roa
